Everything else about the press works as advertised but since it doesn't retain heat it defeats the original purpose of buying such a product. And I don't mean a tiny bit warm. I mean you will burn your hand if you held it. I don't know what everyone is raving about when they say it retains heat. Not satisfied. Now I have several vacuum-sealed mugs and Starbucks stainless steal vacuum-sealed tumblers so I was expecting the same quality. I have 2 glass beaker coffee presses and decided to buy this since it is advertised as "double walled vacuum-sealed" so I could have hotter coffee after preparation. Unfortunately right after adding hot water you will feel the heat on the outside surface of the press.
That said I have also purchased the model that does fit into a car cup holder and the following review goes for both.This product will affect the taste of your drink and not in a positive way. But in addition to the bad taste I find that it does not keep my coffee hot for nearly as long as other options.
I have found the Bonjour french press to be the best.The alternative Thermos Nissan 14-Ounce Stainless-Steel Insulated Travel Tumbler is the best travel, office, home use coffee mug out there and is generally priced at $7 to $12 cheaper. And at nearly $30 just buy a real french press you will be happier in the long run.
For the cost of the Planetary Design Desk Press I found the this product to be quite disappointing. Really that is all that needs to be said.
Save your money and get a better mug. First off I realize that this was not intended to fit in a car cup holder but I find that limitation to be frustrating.
I have owed this for over a year and it still leaves a bad taste in my coffee.
I really prefer the glass type (even if they brake easily. I love the design, but I do not like the taste of the coffee. I think there is not much pressure, for being a "press" french cofeee.
I can live with a little more coffee in my coffee. I think the mesh should be a little coarser or not there at all. Pretty nice design and the perfect size for the office. The only complaint I have is that the wire mesh that is meant to catch the last few particles of coffee as you pour the coffee into a cup often gets clogged and stops the flow of coffee coming out.
Like some other reviews mention, it doesn't fit well into car cup holders.While you can drink from it, I tend to make the coffee or tea and pour it into another cup.I'm thinking about purchsing another. Looking to purchase my first press, I read a lot of reviews. This would be the one I get again. I wouldn't go with another. Based on what I read, I ended up purchasing this press. I was not dissapointed.The press is larger than I expected.
